New Business Class Only Route to open between London and New York

Tom Unwin

For premium air travellers, a new option has been introduced by Odyssey Airlines. Launching in 2016, Odyssey will operate a premium non-stop service from London City to New York, serving 40 business class passengers on an adapted Bombardier CS100.

After the financial crisis put a stop to similar routes operated by Silverjet and Eos, Odyssey will be taking on British Airways who currently offer a premium route from London City to JFK, stopping at Shannon, Ireland for refuelling. Perhaps the deal clincher for passengers will be the direct nature of the flight and the proposed beds, which are touted to be the longest available to air passengers, and the service which will be likened to travelling via private jet.

Should the route be a success, Odyssey will look to expand their network and operate flights to other major US cities, Europe and the Middle East, which will join Qatar Airways’ business class service from Heathrow to Doha.
