Rhodes Island as a Charter Destination & Embarkment Point
Start your yachting holiday from Rhodes… Situated a meagre 26 miles from the Turkish Coast, there is an unlimited range of cruising options available within the surrounding area.  Also, as the capital of the Dodecanese Islands it offers many things to discover and enjoy.  Rhodes Island is an ideal Charter Destination.

The largest of the Dodecanese Islands, Rhodes is abundant in sandy beaches and natural beauty, and offers visitors an enthralling fusion of ancient history and a cosmopolitan lifestyle.  With an excellent tourism industry, a brash and thriving nightlife scene, buzzing towns and year round leisure activities to suite all passions, Rhodes is the place to be for those who want to soak up the hectic Greek party spirit.

Rhodes Airport is a hub for low cost direct flights from all major airports in Europe, Russia and Connection flights from all over the world.  Located just 15 km from the Marina, SEALINE LTD offer free transfer services to and from the Airport/Marina to its guests.

Sail as a group, couple or single occupant by chartering a Motor Yacht, Gulet or a Sail Yacht with or without Crew, along the Dodecanese Islands and Turkish Coast, discovering the hidden bays and swimming in crystal blue waters.  Step back in time through ancient ruins, meet local villagers, partake in water sport activities including diving and fishing, and taste the succulent flavours of the delicious cuisine.

Symi
Symi is possibly the most enchanting of all the Dodecanese Islands.  According to legend, Symi was the Nymph that gave birth to Poseidon’s son Hthonios, the “man of the earth”, who is identified as the leader of the first inhabitants on the island.  Homer affirms that the island has long been inhabited by reporting that it participated in the war against Troy with King Nireas.

The oldest settlement on the island is Horio, which was developed away from the coast as pirates once ravaged the region.  After the inbound threat diminished, Horio was extended towards the sea with a new settlement, Yialos.  Here you will find many interesting small shops and restaurants, conveniently situated within close proximity to your yacht moored in the harbour.

Sloping up the rolling hillside on the coast, Yialos consists of several mansions which once belonged to ship owners and merchants of Symi.  Influenced by the spread of classicism in the Ottoman Empire in the late 18th century, the series of pastel coloured residences beautifully combine Dodecanese tradition with neoclassical design.  Allow yourself to be dazzled by the wondrous colours, the elaborate gables and the pebbled courtyards, which conclusively add to the overall class and prestige of this island.

Halki
Halki is one of the smaller southern Dodecanese Greek Islands.  The mountainous and rocky island can sometimes be affected by strong winds and seas, and the island’s few inhabitants are mainly farmers or fisherman.  However, this small, sleepy island comes alive each summer.

Visitors are drawn to Halki for the relaxed, unrushed way of life, and warm and friendly hospitality.  This sense of tranquillity is the main lure of Halki’s charm – captivating both first time visitors and those who cannot resist returning year after year.  Located around four miles from Rhodes, Halki is the perfect respite from the pulsating atmosphere found on the lager islands.

Halki has two main beaches, both within a 15 minute walk of the harbour – the centre of the action on the island.  Pondamos Beach is an inviting sandy crescent tucked behind a hill, and is perfect for quite, lazy days basking in the sun, whilst Ftenagia, a pebble beach with numerous rocky swimming platforms, is livelier, attracting those in search of a water sports adventure.  However, if you can tear yourself away from the beaches, journey into Halki’s heart and explore the craggy mountains.  Eagles soar quietly above tiny yet intricate churches and monasteries, in a landscape that perfectly captures the serenity of the island.

Tilos
Tilos is located midway between Rhodes and Kos, making it a remote yet tranquil destination.  The stunning mountainous terrain of the island is teeming with an abundance of plants and wildlife, which, together with the magnificent views, makes Tilos a haven for walkers and hikers – or indeed, any individual who appreciates the beauty of nature.

The island also has its fair share of the historical features and sandy beaches that one comes to expect from the Dodecanese Islands.  Tilos boasts spectacular beaches; Livadia is the closest to the tourist amenities, allowing visitors to enjoy the close proximity of the island’s many restaurants and hotels, whilst Agios Antonios Beach is a remote and tranquil stretch with deep and rocky waters, creating an atmosphere of calm isolation.

For history lovers, a trip to the Agios Pandeleimonas Monastery is a must; the 15th Century structure was erected in honour of the patron saint of Tilos, and offers unparalleled panoramic views of the entire island.  The ancient ruins of Mikri Horio are also an impressive point of interest.  After you’ve explored the remnants of the once resplendent buildings, retire for a taste of authentic Greek cuisine in one of the nearby taverns, and learn the stories of the land as told by the welcoming locals.

Nisyros
Nisyros is one of the more active but lesser known volcanic islands in Greece.  The Nisyros volcano is the most active remain of the Cos caldera that exploded approximately 150,000 years ago.  Although it has not exploded since 1888, Nisryos, Yali, Strongyli, Pyrgoussa, Pahia and Kefalos (at Cos) are exemplary remains of a volcanic zone that is considered to still be very much active today.

This entire region is a geologists dream, allowing you to study all kinds of volcanic rocks and even walk into the biggest hydrothermic crater on earth.  Non-geologists will be equally amazed by the incredible trekking opportunities, picturesque mountain scenery and the volcanic craters that blend white, orange and yellow rocks to create a unique sight.

Aside from the natural splendour, Nisyros will share a fascinating cultural experience.  There are several Orthodox Christian churches to discover, along with four monasteries and a medieval castle erected by the Knights Hospitaller, who conquered the island in 1315.  Once you have finished your exploration, make some time to luxuriate on one of the world class beaches, consisting of Mondraki, the Hohlaki, Avlaki, Agios Irini as well as some beautiful beaches on the small islet of Gyali opposite Mondraki.

Other Services
As well as luxury charter options, the Roditis Yachting Cabin Charter Program also offers ideal alternatives for individuals or couples who would like to sail but do not wish to rent an entire yacht; you can simply rent a single cabin and share your cruise with other likeminded guests.  This option will enable you to not only experience a taste of the yachting option without fully committing to renting a vessel, but it also provides you with the chance to get to meet new people from different cultures and backgrounds.  The yacht is chosen based upon the number of passengers, and the route around the islands is based upon the interests and needs of all guests on board.

Amongst their other services, the also provide a range of services for yacht owners, such short or long term storage of personal effects, yacht equipment and spare parts, clearance and customs, berthing, provisioning and bunkering.  They can also arrange for hotels and excursions on land, as well as transportation options.  Contact SEALINE LTD.  for any schedules, requirements and ideas you wish for them to develop.
