Galaxy S4 Release

By Mark Johnson

On the 26th April Samsung will release its new Galaxy S4, this fourth generation device is slimmer than its predecessors and loaded with more features meaning that this phone is set to be Apple’s biggest rival to its legendary iPhone.   Samsung call the Galaxy S4 a life companion, aimed at simplifying your daily life.

The Galaxy S4 features a 5 inch full super HD Amoled display that allows the user to operate the device without needing to touch the screen.  This feature can also offer previews of emails and videos when a finger is hovered about 2cm from the screen.  The bigger display also provides more space so icons appear less cluttered.  The touch screen, unlike other phones, is capable of working when the user is wearing gloves making using it in cold weather much easier!

The phone is fitted with a 13 megapixel rear camera and also a 2 megapixel front camera allowing for duel shot capabilities, the S4 can arrange and organise photos into albums automatically.
The S4 features the S Translator enabling the user to get quick translations by speaking or texting into the phone.   While the ChatON option allows you to share videos and photos with friends over distance easily.  The interactive options are endless with the S4, you can connect with your TV find out the schedules and recommendations while also letting you control your TV remotely.   The Samsung HomeSync provides a personal cloud with 1TB of space for photos, videos and games which can then be viewed and shared through your TV.

The device also comes with S Health which can monitor your fitness including exercise, weight and calories burnt with the help of accessories.   It also have all the classicsfeatures such as google maps, Gmail, google plus and Youtube.

A lot of the design of the Galaxy S4 is very similar to the S3 including the plastic casing, although the S4 is slightly smaller and lighter than the S3.  Some of the S3 features have been improved with Smart Stay eye tracking now joined by Smart Pause, pauses videos when it detects your eyes have looked away from the screen.  Smart Scroll can also scroll up and down web pages when the device is tilted.

The battery in the S4 has been improved from its predecessors, which should allow for a longer battery life.  It comes with an SD card slot increasing the data storage capacity.  The default keyboard on the S4 is SwiftKey replacing the keyboard used for the S3 and will make typing faster and easier by predicting your next words as well as suggesting entire phrases.  However unlike the S3 the S4 only has a choice of two colours, Black Mist and White Frost.

The Galaxy S4 is available to Pre Order from Samsung
