Highlights of the Geneva Motor Show

By Elizabeth Sharpe

Considered one the biggest and best motor shows in the world, The International Geneva Motor Show takes place in March every year in Switzerland’s second biggest city Geneva.  First beginning in 1905, this exhilarating motor show has been the centre of many technological advances in automobiles and this year’s show has been no different.  Here is our rundown on the highlights of the event.

Maserati

The MC Stradale is the new Grand Tourer, Gran Turismo in Italian, made by Maserati is a luxury car which can reach top temperatures of 188mph due to its six speed sequential transmission.  This Italian car has made several reversions, the hood has been revamped to carbon-fiber, a wheel design in five-spokes and a rear extractor however this new design keeps all four seats rather than removing the back two which is very different to other racing vehicles.  By maintaining all four seats the car maintains its usefulness as a travelling vehicle.  Despite the extra seats the cars weight has made little change from its original design which means that its aero-dynamical abilities will not be comprised by the extra seats.

Bentley

The Flying Spur may look like a regular Bentley on first glance inside however, this is a car which has a modern age twist, on board there is state of the art wifi and social-media functioning and it even has spaces to integrate ipads into the headrests and all added to the regular luxurious interior expected of a Bentley.  With all this exciting technology and comfort inside it is easy to forget that this car is a limousine which can reach 60mph in 4.3 seconds.  This 616bhp Bentley comes with a £140,000 price tag and those who want to get their hands on this modern technology will have to wait until later this year for now it is on display at the motor show.

Lamborghini

Boasting speeds of over 200mph, The Lamborghini Veneno has been built to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th birthday and will be unique entity as only three cars will be for sale in green, red and white to portray the Italian flag.  The Italian car maker, Lamborghini describes their car to be a ‘street legal racing car.’ This three million pound genius, brand new sports car is believed to be able to reach speeds of 60mph in a shockingly fast three seconds.  Launched in March this year this extremely aerodynamically designed car uses modern technology with its patented material made from a mixture of substances which creates a well structured fabric to reduces weight and moulds well to most shapes.  As this brand new car is so rare one of the only chances to see it will be at the Geneva Motor Show as a fourth prototype car will be the only one on display.
