A Stay in Playa del Carmen

Like most of the coastal towns along the Riviera Maya in Mexico, Playa del Carmen was once inhabited by the Mayan civilisation in its early days.  Located along the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea, the city has managed to preserve its reputation of a fishing town which warmly welcomes travellers who are looking for a relaxed vacation.  However, the trendy Yucatán resort has rapidly grown as numerous luxurious hotels, American chain restaurants, and boutiques have been developed in recent years.  The town is ideally situated as the largest city in Quintana Roo Cancún (where the closest airport is) is only 70 kilometres away and other tourist attractions such as Cozumel and Tulum are easily accessible by bus as well.

One of the resort’s most outstanding hotels is Rosewood Mayacoba. Due to its ‘Rose Buds for Children’ programme, the hotel is a perfect spot for family holidays; the activities that the programme offers include yoga for children, EcoTours, scavenger hunts and even Spanish and Mayan lessons.  For adults, this exquisite hotel offers Spa & Wellness facilities as well as a fitness centre, pool and golfing opportunities.  Rosewood Mayacoba also provides a rich array of activities for its adventurous visitors such as dolphin excursions, scuba diving, snorkelling and fishing.

The Royal Playa del Carmen is renowned for creating the most exceptional holidays for their guests.   With its 516 suites, the adults only complex is designed for romantic getaways and honeymoons.  It is located on the main Playa (as the city is locally known) Beach with a breathtaking view of the Caribbean.  After an indulgent dinner at one of the eight restaurants with an extensive selection of Mexican, Mediterranean and even Asian specialties, the visitors can enjoy live music and nightly entertainment in one of the eight bars that the complex has to offer.
