Best Beaches of Bermuda

With 75 miles of coastline and sands ranging in colour from white to pink, Bermuda offers some of the most diverse and stunning beaches in the Caribbean.  The island’s iconic pink sand beaches have become legendary tourist attractions in their own right, but other beachside treasures such as stark rocky cliffs, abundant natural habitats and nearby coral reefs guarantee that a visit to Bermuda’s beaches will satisfy even the most adventurous beach-seeker.  Be it relaxing beachside resorts, watersports hubs or secretive snorkelling coves, the island has something to please tourists of all tastes.

Horseshoe Bay Beach

One of the most famous beaches in all Bermuda, Horseshoe Bay Beach owes much of its popularity to its easy accessibility, facilities (including a lifeguard station, beach-side cafe and toilets), and (most crucially of all) its stunning sands.  Ranging in colour from platinum-white to flamingo-pink, the sands of this beach are typical of Bermuda; soft, warm and inviting, perfect for holidaymakers seeking a spot to relax.  The beach itself is actually split in two; the main beach also gives way to Port Royal Cove, a sheltered area with calm, shallow waters which provide a safe place for children to play.

Daniel’s Head Beaches

Bermuda’s coastline contains many secreted treasures and Daniel’s Head Beaches shine as one of the most prestigious.  Secluded from the tourism-heavy beaches found elsewhere, Daniel’s Head in Sandy’s Parish enjoys a quiet atmosphere in beautiful scenic surroundings.  Clear, calm waters make the area a perfect spot for snorkelling, especially as you will be afforded more privacy here than elsewhere.  Among the fish that can be spotted are angelfish, parrotfish and wrasse.  Holidaymakers looking to stay dry can enjoy a walk along the coastline, where they can rest on of the seafront benches and look out to the stunning Caribbean Sea.

Clearwater Beach

Combining shallow waters with seclusion and family-friendly facilities, Clearwater Beach is a perfect choice for holidaymakers who wish to enjoy a family holiday but don’t wish to brave the crowds.  The park has excellent facilities including a playground and toilets, as well as a bar and restaurant, meaning visitors have access to everything they could want for a day at the beach.  The area also offers great snorkelling opportunities, and though there is no coral sea grass provides interesting opportunities to see turtles and other species which feed along the seabed.

Black Bay Beach

One of Bermuda’s more niche (yet no less fascinating) aspects is the opportunity for holidaymakers to view “sea glass”.  Sea glass is formed when glass waste in the ocean becomes refined to create shiny, gem-like objects which wash up ashore.  Black Bay Beach in particular is famed for its abundance of sea glass, which collects along the sand to create dazzling displays of colour throughout the day.  The beach itself has many rocky ridges, giving it a ruggedly distinctive character.  Watersports are popular in the area, the calm waters providing perfect conditions for fly and paddle-boarding.
