Characterised by passion and knowledge, Cooltours by Anna offers a unique way for visitors to explore the charms of Tuscany.  Anna Maria Madaffari originates from the south of Italy, but at 14 years old she fell so in love with Tuscany that she vowed to return as an adult, with a desire to introduce visitors to an authentic Tuscan experience and help them uncover scenic beauty, food and wine of this beautiful region.  Cooltours was born in 2012 and serves as a culmination of Anna’s best skills and experience; with degrees in Foreign Languages and Modern Cultures and a background working in an award winning winery (Anna is also currently training as a sommelier)  she is well placed to lead educational and fun escorted driving tours of Tuscany’s natural highlights.
 
Anna is a professional driver and tour leader but Cooltours is unlike any other touring experience; her unrivalled knowledge of the region ensures that each tour is filled with historical insight and interesting stories, and all customers can expect a highly personalised and engaging experience.  Her tours are perfect for couples, small groups and families, and each tour is highly customisable, with a focus on expertly produced food and wine.  From cheese makers and organic farms to traditional oil mills and the best wineries the region has to offer, Anna will present authentic Tuscan culture in such a way that you’ll surely fall in love with the charms of Tuscany as she did. 
 
Wine Tours
 
Educational, professional and yet highly engaging, Anna’s wine tours delve into the incredible wine regions of Chianti –home of the world famous Chianti Classico – and Montalcino the smaller wine area devoted to the production of the most known and long-lasting wine of the region, Brunello.
According to clients’ needs it is possible to plan a visit of between one and three wineries (in order not be rushed Anna suggests no more than three in a day.) Guests can visit award winning wineries, outstanding family run business and organic producers so to have a 360 degrees idea of the viticulture in Tuscany and sample different wines with different “characteristics”.  On each wine tour visitors will explore the vineyards, visit every wine cellar and meet the winemakers and the locals who will happily answer all questions.  Anna also recommends a full lunch at the wineries to complete your Tuscan wine experience and uncover the Italian tradition of food and wine pairing. 
 
For the wine lovers, another new option is ready –the wine making experience.  If you book far in advance you can take part to a private wine session at a winery; taste four different grape juices and, together with the wine consultant, create your own blend of Supertuscan wine.  After the blend is decided the wine will be bottled and kept in the winery before being shipped directly to your home.  This experience is dedicated to small group only and in the private formula (Cooltours offers both private and joinable tours, though no more than eight passengers can be transported in the luxury Mercedes minivan legally registered.  In the case of larger groups on request a minibus can be organised.)
 
Countryside Tours
 
Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of Tuscany and enjoy a drive along the beautiful countryside roads with Anna and Cooltours.  Stop to take the picture where many popular movies have been filmed such as TheEnglish Patient, Gladiator and Letters to Juliet.  A drive along some of the most picturesque, off the beaten paths (that tourists rarely reach on their own) will help you savour the Tuscan way of life. 
 
Anna will share with you the alluring stories and anecdotes of the region along with technical information about the nature, the geology, the winemaking while driving through wine regions.  But do not forget that as a tour leader Anna will be happy to give you the best information about Italian history, medieval history.  Of course, a countryside tour means a stop at some well-known towns such as San Gimignano and its towers and Pienza and its Renaissance architecture.  (For those who wish to book a more in-depth city guide, Anna will be happy to help.)
 
Your countryside tour will also include a strop a trattoria for a delicious lunch based on regional specialties, as enjoyed every day by the locals.  Alternatively a winery or farm visit can be included, or guests can indulge in a professional wine tasting session and light lunch.
 
Food Tours
 
It is impossible to visit Tuscany and not enjoy its food, as the region is leader in high quality products and specialties.  A food tour with Cooltours is a truly indulgent experience; learn about traditional and authentic DOP and IGP products of Tuscany and sample such mouthwatering products as extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto Toscano, Cinta senese meat and saffron.
 
The best way to experience this is by attending special half day activities such as cooking classes, truffle hunting session in the areas of San Miniato and San Giovanni d’Asso, cheese making demo at the producers around the Valdorcia and the Chianti region or a visit to the oil mills – especially during the autumn months to witness the production of olive oil.  After a thrilling morning activitiy, the remainder of your day will be devoted to scenic drives in the picturesque countryside and stops to hilltop towns and medieval hamlets.  Every tour is planned to your personal taste so it is possible to include pastries and gelato tasting sessions along with balsamic and olive oil tasting.
