The Magic of Neuschwanstein

A number of incredibly intriguing attractions are found beyond the city’s limits – and luckily for visitors to Munich, ozTourMunich are happy to help their guests discover other incredible landmarks that Germany has to offer.  Such one attraction is the 19th Century Neuschwanstien Castle.  A white-turreted castle, set amidst a verdant forest of pines, Neuschwanstien was the inspiration behind Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland, Paris.  Overlooking the stunning gorge of Pöllat, Lake Forggen and the picturesque village of Hohenschwangau, it’s easy to see why this striking structure is identified as the ultimate fairy tale castle.

The castle was commissioned by King Ludwug II of Bavaria, to serve not only as his private retreat but built in homage to composer Richard Wagner.  The king, perhaps foolishly, paid for the palace out of his own personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, the huge cost of which left him in crippling dept.  The king was not popular amongst his courtiers; he was deposed in 1886 and soon after, mysteriously drowned in the shallows of the nearby lake.

With ozTourMunich, guests can discover for themselves the mystery, intrigue and beauty of Neuschwanstein.  On a private, eight hour tour from the city, guests can enjoy the personal choice of a vehicle driven by a certified local guide.  The tour includes entrance and a guided tour of the castle, whilst a flexibility itinerary allows for the addition of the Romantic Bavarian Castles experience.  This fantastic experience is in great demand, so advanced bookings are recommended.
