Exploring the Amalfi Coast

Exploring the Amalfi Coast

With such a vast expanse of coastline, bragging magnificent manmade and agricultural structures, there are multitudes of ways to explore the Amalfi Coast whilst soaking up the picturesque scenery.   A cornucopia of beauty that begs to be explored, visitors should take the time to explore the Amalfi Coast beyond its beautiful towns and discover its charms in full.

Explore by Car or Moped

With its winding roads where every curve offers a brand new panoramic view of the stunning coastline, it is clear to see why so many travellers choose to travel via car or moped when exploring the Amalfi Coast.  The combination of the single carriageway roads and the multitude of hairpin bends which twist over vertical drops over the cliffs call for the most experienced of drivers, making this an option not for the faint of heart.  Mopeds and cars can be rented with ease, so you can easily participate in this legendary drive along the exquisite Amalfi Coast, one of the world’s most renowned driving routes.

Explore by Bus

The Sita bus is a fantastic alternative to explore the winding roads of the Amalfi Coast in air-conditioned comfort without the worry of driving.  Grab a seat by the window and watch as the roads weave constantly through olive groves, lemon terraces, lush forests, precipitous crags, pastel-coloured villages and deep gorges, set against the backdrop of the sapphire sea.  Tickets for the Sita bus must be purchased in advance from tickets offices and tourist centres, as fines are heavy for passengers travelling without a ticket.  With regular stops around the opulent shoreline, the bus is an effortless way to explore the charming towns around the Amalfi Coast.

Explore by Yacht

The Amalfi Coast is dotted with natural harbours, making yachting an advantageous method of transportation around the coastline.  Leave the busy roads behind and set sail on the glittering Tyrrhenian Sea, navigating the cerulean waters between islands and villages and enjoy the tranquillity of the open sea.  Interchange between the energetic towns and the serene ocean whilst you enjoy the celestial scenery from both land and sea.  Only by sea can you truly appreciate the immaculate view of the Amalfi Coast, and there’s no better place to relax for a relaxing drink than against this sumptuous backdrop.

Explore on Foot

With the roads only opened in the 1930s, locals would traditionally explore the Amalfi Coast on foot, and today it remains a well loved option for those wishing to discover hidden gems away from the main tourist spots.  It is possible to travel the entire length of the coast on foot, using the numerous pathways and stairs to navigate from one end of the shoreline to the other, with plenty of opportunities to stop along the way to explore the plentiful attractions and perhaps stay for a few days at each village.  Go at your own pace and enjoy the freedom of navigating under your own steam and make your trip to the Amalfi Coast your own.
