History in the Heart of Birmingham

Hotel du Vin

Located in the heart of Britain’s second city, the Hotel du Vin exudes whispered sophistication in its modest luxuries.  The hotel is nestled in the iconic Jewellery Quarter, one of the city centre’s most opulent areas, which dates back to the early 17th Century and still produces around 40 per cent of the jewellery manufactured within the UK.  Visit workshops to see the jewellers at work, or wander around the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, where the Smith & Pepper jewellery factor remains preserved, and learn about the city’s fascinating jewellery heritage.

This former eye hospital and landmark Victorian building features 66 timelessly style bedrooms and suites, each featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, plasma televisions, air conditioning and a powerful drench shower.  In order to maintain its uniquely historical features, each guest room offers its own charm and design, meaning that no two rooms are the same.  The high ceilings common of the Victorian era afford each room an open, fresh aura whilst the gothic furnishings maintain the hotel’s enthralling heritage.

The bedrooms at the Hotel du Vin all feature ensuite bathrooms with a monsoon shower, the standard ensuite bathrooms boast a deep bath whilst the deluxe bedrooms contain free standing roll top baths and more spacious bedrooms.  The suites are perfect for a more sumptuous stay, featuring open plan rooms with a relaxing sofa area complete with plasma screen television.  The Principal Suite is the most grandiose of the accommodation on offer, featuring an eight foot bed, a private gym and two freestanding roll top baths and twin monsoon showers.

The Bistro du Vin is the hotel’s elegant yet informal restaurant, serving classic French cuisine with a distinctly British twist.  Providing à la carte dining in a warm, relaxed setting, the Bistro serves luxury cuisine made from seasonal fresh produce whilst the Sommelier on hand is happy to advise, match or recommend the perfect wine from the extensive list featuring over 40 expertly-selected bottles of wine and champagne.

The lively Bubble Lounge, decorated in the style of Venice’s Café Florin, stocks a wealth of beverages whilst the team on hand are happy to guide guests through the range of wines, champagnes, spirits, cocktails and cigars on offer.  For lovers of real ale, the Pub du Vin serves local legendary ales produced from the finest Midlands’ and English breweries, whilst also housing an eclectic selection of some of the world’s most unusual and intriguing bottled beers.  The pub also serves classic pub food with a distinctly luxurious twist, for example their homemade crisps, house beer battered fish and chips, and homemade signature pies.
