Life in Lisbon

Europe’s second oldest city and Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, is a charming and vivacious hub of activity set within an intimate metropolis.  With luscious sandy beaches where the sun can be seen setting over the azure blue ocean, lively nightlife in the form of its vibrant restaurants and bars, and friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere, Lisbon is the perfect place to relax, join in the excitement or soak up the culture.

Visit the National Museum of Ancient Art

Visit the National Museum of Ancient Art and gaze upon masterpieces from Renaissance and Medieval artists such as Gonclaves, Bosch and Raphael.  Lisbon is steeped in Medieval and Renaissance history, which manifests itself in the stunning artwork, sculptures and relics on display in the museum.  Portugal’s rich history is depicted throughout the artwork, such as the Namban folding screens which illustrate the arrival of Portuguese vessels in the Japanese port of Nagasaki in the 16th Century.

Take in the Sights on a Cycling Tour

With Lisbon’s seven hills and steep streets, it’s surprising that the Lisbon Bike Tour is a relaxing and informative tour for any level of cycler.  Travelling mostly downhill and on flat planes of land, the tour explores the heart of the city of Lisbon before following along the dazzling river line as a passionate guide tells you all you need to know about this great city.  Tour prices include rental of a helmet and bike and last roughly three and a half hours.

Relax on the Luscious Lisbon Beaches

Lisbon has the luxury of being one of the few European capital cities to be surrounded by luscious sandy beaches, and is the ideal place to combine the excitement of a city break with the tranquillity of a beach holiday.  Praia Do Tamariz is located at Estoril and is bordered by a scenic walkway that is lined with restaurants, cafés, exercise stations and benches, and is a metropolitan beach frequented by both tourists and locals.
