Prague – A City of History

As the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague is certainly one of the Europe’s most fascinating and cultural destinations.  Situated in the centre of the continent, few can resist the charming allure that Prague has to offer; a golden city surrounded by a sea of picturesque snow-capped mountains and ever green forests.  Prague is a relatively small city, home to only 1.9 million inhabitants, but is a city of ancient history and infinite beauty, rivalled only by the likes of Paris.

The historical importance of Prague can be traced back to the middle ages, when Prague first began to attract all manner of artisans, architects and romantics.  Showcasing its remarkable abundance of elegant castles, ancient chapels and breath-taking palaces, visitors from all around the world come in throngs to discover Prague's history and architectural treasures for themselves, from magnificent monasteries and medieval cobbled streets to the secret courtyards tantalisingly hidden out of view.

In a city of such stunning architecture that boasts the very best of Baroque, Gothic and Romanesque styles it is well worth visiting the exquisite Charles Bridge; built in the 14th Century, it offers magnificent views of the Vltava River and the sparkling city beyond.  Other popular attractions include the monumental Prague Castle; set on a hilltop overlooking the city it is one of the oldest castle's in the world dating all the way back to the 9th Century.  To experience the intimate charms of Prague, avoid the crowds and visit the castle at dawn and enjoy a more atmospheric experience.
