Your Guide to Switzerland

Each tailor-made escorted tour of Switzerland will be accompanied by Pure Switzerland founder, Sibylle Staehelin.  Born and raised in Interlaken, Sibylle has always had a passion for adventure sports, travelling and engaging with new people and cultures – though as much as she loves seeing the world, it is introducing others to the charms of her home land that inspired her to found Pure Switzerland.

After graduating from school, Sibylle took a gap year to improve her foreign language skills; upon completing her higher degree, she divided her time between working in the hospitality industry and taking paragliding lessons, before travelling across South America.  This began an exciting trend; Sibylle funded her travels (and paragliding exploits) by working in hotels, language schools and in event management, but although Sibylle’s travels have taken her to South America, Asia, the Gulf Region and Europe (she speaks fluent English, French, German and Spanish and basic Arabic and Italian) her true passion lies in showing guests of Switzerland the beauty of nature and an insight to its rich cultural heritage.  A Sibylle can show her guests the real Switzerland; she turned her love for Interlaken into a career, and she looks forward to sharing her passion with each visitor. Sibylle believes it is important to live your dreams and is proud to have forged her dream job in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Day Tours

Pure Switzerland’s exclusive day tours are “all in one” experiences, where must-see attractions are showcased alongside beautiful vistas, Swiss traditions and innovations and amazing activities.  Although packed programmes, the schedule and itinerary can always be adapted to the customer’s desires and needs – and it is this high commitment to flexibility which sets Pure Switzerland apart from its competition, as each guest can expect spontaneity and dedicated hospitality.

Pure Switzerland’s top tours are the perfect way to get a true experience of Switzerland; the Lake & Gorge Tour explores the incredible turquoise lake of Brienz and the breathtaking Aare Gorge. Those embarking on the Sweet Temptation Tour can indulge in more than beautiful landscapes – discover the cultural and gastronomic legacy of Switzerland with a visit to the famous Gruyere cheese and Cailler chocolate factories.

Swiss Special Events

Switzerland’s calendar is governed by time-old traditions, special events and festivals unique to this small but fascinating country.  Valleys and mountain peaks that were cut off by heavy snowfall each winter developed their own heritage and traditions, whilst small villages and larger cities put their own spin on annual celebrations.  For those who want to immerse themselves in the local legacies or simply have a desire to celebrate, Swiss style, Pure Switzerland offer personalised tours to the country’s biggest festivals and special events throughout the year: from cow festivals, yodelling competitions and cheese sharing festivals to religious events, political arts events and Swiss National Day (1 August) Pure Switzerland invite you to live and celebrate like a local.

Not only catering for those who wish to attend the larger, well known national events, Pure Switzerland can also arrange tours to smaller, local festivities. Such events include the Fête du frommage cheese festival of Gruyère (3 May 2015), the Internationale Alphornfestival – a two day alphorn and folklorique festival – of Wallis, (24 July 2015) a festival of traditional costumes, Trachtenfestival, held in Interlaken (26 July 2015)and the Alpine Cattle Descent held across the country every September and October.  When the summer ends, the cows are bought down from the Alps to valleys below, and farmers and families come together to celebrate the event; the cows are decorated with beautiful flowers for their journey and the locals dress in the finest traditional Swiss costumes for the joyous parade.

Special events tours can be combined with classic excursions, with an individual scheduled programme or adventure activities such as a tandem paragliding flight.  To help their guests get the full Swiss experience, Pure Switzerland can also help arrange attendance to evening performances; be part of Swiss culture and discover the charms of this beautiful and varied country.
