Visiting Montego Bay

Visiting Montego Bay

Sun drenched beaches, lush mountains, mouth-watering food and music that lights up your soul.  Where else but Jamaica?  Spend a little time in this tropical paradise and you’ll be swept up in a life of ease and all your problems will melt away.  But Jamaica has more to offer than great beaches and even greater food; a rich culture, a relaxed lifestyle and world renowned scenery means that Jamaica has become a top destination for those seeking luxury and sophistication...and luxury means Montego Bay.

In close proximity to some of Jamaica’s finest beaches, shopping outlets and top resorts, and home to both Sangster International Airport and Jamaica’s cruise ship terminal, Montego Bay, Jamaica’s second largest city, is perfectly located to cater to all of your needs.  Whether you want to spend your days lying under the blazing sun sipping rum punch, teeing off on the famous golf courses, or bustling around the busy markets befriending the locals, you’re guaranteed to find your own little bit of paradise in this beautifully vibrant city.

Where to Stay

Boasting the best private beach you will find on the island, Sandals Resort is the place for those looking for a lively party atmosphere, Jamaican style.  If you’re in need of a more serene break, Sandals also offer private beach front villas; with 24 hour dining and butler service, they exude glamour.

The Tryall Clubis set amid 2,000 stunning acres and offers its guests a five star experience; complete with a private golf course and beach front, and some of the best views you will find on the island.  Perfect if you want the peace and quiet to soak up your surroundings.

The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hallis a luxury five star spa resort exclusively for adults.  Its ‘Grand Star Service’ offers a personal butler service, a luggage un/packing service and breakfast in bed, for those that wish to experience a life of luxury in the heart of paradise.

What to Do

Montego Bay has a fascinating history, and if you want to submerge yourself in local culture then look no further than The Rose Hall Great House.  First built in the1770s, this beautiful Georgian Mansion was restored to its former glory in the 60s, although most tourists are attracted by the lure of the legendary ghost, ‘the White Witch,’ rather than the stunning architecture.  Take part in a night tour, if you’re brave enough.

For shopping, The Shoppes at Rose Hall boasts luxury duty free boutiques.  However, for traditional souvenirs such as wood carvings, hand crafted jewellery and traditional Jamaican dress, head to the Harbour Street Craft Market- but brush up on your haggling skills first!

The white sand beaches and pure blue waters are guaranteed to take your breath away.  The best beach in Montego Bay (if not the whole of Jamaica) is Doctor’s Cave Beach, famous for its calm waters and excellent facilities.  However, if you want something a little more magical, Braco Stables Horseback Ride n' Swim provides a two hour ride through the luscious countryside, culminating in a ride along the shore and into the sea.  It is an experience of a life time, and one that you won’t find anywhere else - except here in Montego Bay.
