How to Set Weight Loss Goals Before Your Wedding

Taking the big step to tie the knot and walk down the aisle can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. It’s exciting because you get to spend the rest of your life with the person you love, but nerve-wracking because of all that planning a wedding involves. Aside from liaising with vendors, looking at design concepts and cake tasting, you’re looking for the perfect dress. Many women also have a weight related goal – from making healthy food choices, losing weight, or exercising more. In the midst of all the chaos of planning, trying to stick to a balanced diet can be tough but not impossible. Use these three tips you to set weight loss goals for your big day.

Clearly Outline Your Goals

Saying you want to lose weight is one thing, but actually doing it is another entirely. For this reason, if you’re serious about losing weight before your wedding day, it’s critical that you come up with an action plan. One of the first things you should get started on when setting weight loss goals is set long term and short term goals. This will help you[SS1]  stay motivated by reaching mini-goals. In addition, make sure your goals are specific, measurable and have a date associated to keep you accountable. You may decide that you want to set a weekly or monthly goal, but remember to choose something that’s realistic. You can then begin detailing how exactly you plan to reach those goals, whether it be by cutting out soda for a week, not eating any junk food, or exercising every morning. Once you’ve put this in place, you can then go on to other steps that will be mentioned below.

Devise a Meal Plan

Unfortunately, the world doesn’t stop just because you’re planning a wedding. This means you likely have a number of things to do such as go to work, manage your household, and take care of any other responsibilities you may have. To keep up with your weight loss goals during this busy period, it may be best to come up with a meal plan ahead of time. An ideal meal plan differs for everyone, but many people choose one that is low in carbs, high in protein, fats, and vegetables. The key is nourishing your body, not starving it. Be on the lookout for one that gives you structure but is also flexible offering meals that are easy to prepare, especially if you’re pressed for time.

Be Accountable

Accountability is key when trying to lose weight to help you resist the urge to indulge in fast food when you shouldn’t be eating it. There are several ways that you can hold yourself accountable when trying to lose weight such as by getting well-acquainted with your scale, using a measuring tape to stay on track, keeping a food diary, getting an accountability partner, or creating your own rewards program. You should also try and remember the ultimate goal which is to feel absolutely stunning as well as confident on your wedding day.

Trying to lose weight comes easier to some than it does others. However, determination is key no matter what. Your big day should be one of the happiest days of your life, so being happy with your appearance is very important. By sticking to a diet and being as disciplined as possible, you should be on track to losing the weight you want before walking down the aisle.
