LTG Global Awards Ceremony

Luxury Travel Guide hosted their Global Awards Ceremony welcoming a wide audience of leading hotel owners, travel experts and tour operators in celebrating the very best of the luxury travel sector.

Hosted by the founder of SGEi and television personality Shane Green, and Luxury Travel Guide Editor-in-Chief James Drakeford, the Global Awards bestowed awards for a number of different categories including: Luxury Beach Resort of the Year, Winter Sports Destination of the Year and the Tour Guide of the Year.

Toshiro Maruyama, manager of Japan’s Shirouma-so Hotel, was one of the event’s biggest winners, taking the trophy for both General Manager of the Year and Mountain Retreat of the Year. It was also a successful night for Beverly Hills, winning both City Destination of the Year and the Luxury Hotel of the Year for the impressive Beverly Hills Hotel.

Austrian hoteliers prevailed during the Global Awards, picking up four accolades. Eisenhuthaus, Hotel Stadt Wien, Hotel & Chalet Aurelio, and Hotel Maximilian were named as the winners for Luxury Boutique Hotel, Luxury Family Hotel, Luxury Chalet, and Service Excellence Award, respectively.

The biggest winner of the night was Barbados, who won the award for Country Destination of the Year; a fitting win, as the island is celebrating their 50th anniversary of independence.

All of the nominees comprised of winners of Luxury Travel Guide Awards for their respective continent in 2016 with this special award ceremony celebrating the very best of the best.

Hosted at Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street, the awards were interspersed between a three-course dinner, an energetic performance by Brazilian Carnival Dancers and live jazz by the Birmingham-based band Keziasoul. Cocktails and wine were provided throughout the evening courtesy of event sponsors Sash & Fritz and the International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Luxury Travel Guide hopes to build upon the successes of the Global Awards for 2017’s event, and would like to congratulate all winners and finalists for their efforts over the last year.
