New Ecotrip From Ker & Downey Africa

Travel and safari company Ker & Downey Africa has announced it has teamed up with the all-female Black Mamba Anti-Poaching Unit in South Africa to launch a 13-day conservation experience in South Africa.

During this itinerary, travelers will be able to meet the Mambas on their home turf to gain an inside look at how this ranger unit is safeguarding the vulnerable wildlife in the country's Balule Nature Reserve.

"This luxury itinerary has been designed for travelers with a keen interest in rhino and wildlife conservation and features some of South Africa's most ecoconscious properties in Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, the Whale Coast and Greater Kruger National Park," said Lisa Nel, head of group marketing and product.

The itinerary begins in Cape Town where guests will stay at the Ellerman House, a boutique hotel offering easy access to the city's classic attractions. Travelers will go on a private tour of the Cape Peninsula where they can discover the scenic Cape Point Nature Reserve, Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach -- home to one of the largest African penguin colonies in South Africa. The next stop on the itinerary is the famous Babylonstoren Farm Hotel located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, followed by a stay in the Grootbos Forest Lodge in Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. The final stop of the journey takes travelers to the Pondoro Game Lodge in the Balule Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park.

Travelers will be taken behind the scenes to the Mamba's operations room and given an inside look at how the unit is protecting South Africa's vulnerable rhinos and wildlife.

Pricing for this trip starts from $8,055 and includes a $100 donation to the Black Mambas to help fund their ongoing operations in Balule Nature Reserve.

The partnership with the Black Mamba Unit will also see all clients give back each time they travel to Africa, in the form of a donation of $100 or more per booking.

"We have partnered with the Black Mambas in an effort to give our clients the opportunity to become active participants in wildlife conservation and community empowerment in South Africa," said Lee Kelsall, CEO of the Ker & Downey Africa Group.
