A Day of Family Fun in Singapore

A Day of Family Fun in Singapore

Singapore was once known as merely a British colony; more recently as a layover city for flights headed further East. Yet this independent city-state, located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, has fast become a hot destination for travellers to Asia. Singapore possesses a wealth of sights and activities –serene gardens, world-class zoos, elaborate temples and distinguished museums – all complemented by an equatorial climate and a diverse food scene. The perfect Singapore day trip encompasses the relaxing, the exhilarating and the unique aspects of this distinct island.

Start the day immersed in a pocket of tranquillity at Tanjong Beach on Sentosa Island. Unwind on a private stretch of white sand, scattered with palms and with views of tropical islands across the water. Alternatively, lounge on a bed by the pool at the Tanjong Beach Club, voted as one of the world’s best beach clubs, and a stunning piece of mid-century modernist architecture.

In the afternoon, make the five minute drive from Tanjong Beach to Universal Studios Singapore – Southeast Asia’s only Hollywood theme park – and a thrilling family experience. If you wish to tremble with adrenaline then ride Revenge of the Mummy in the Ancient Egypt zone, whilst Shrek 4D is an entertaining experience for younger children. 18 of the 24 rides that this park boasts are exclusive to Singapore; however you can still wander the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame that adorns the American parks.

As dusk falls, leave behind the rushes and roars of Universal Studios Singapore and head to Night Safari, a 30 minute drive north of Sentosa Island. At Night Safari, the world’s first safari park for nocturnal animals, observe a selection of obscure night-time creatures across seven geographical zones. Watch badgers, bats and possums go about their evening business, and keep your eyes peeled for foraging hyenas and the park’s Asian elephant family. Your transport is a guided tram; however a private tour can be arranged for a more individual experience.
