Why Not Charter A Yacht In Greece This Summer?

Why Not Charter A Yacht In Greece This Summer?

When the COVID-19 crisis is over, we’ll all be craving a truly relaxing summer holiday; one with guaranteed sunshine, idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters. Charter a yacht in Greece and explore its most stunning islands, taking in picturesque villages, stepping back in time at fascinating historical sites and, of course, enjoying plenty of delicious Greek food and wine.

Where to go when you charter a yacht in Greece?

Starting our Greece yacht charter itinerary in Athens, you’ll need a couple of days to explore its breath-taking Acropolis, dazzling Byzantine churches and delightful narrow pedestrian streets. At Sounion, the Temple of Poseidon overlooks the verdant island of Kea, a popular city break and ideal starting point when you charter a yacht in Greece.

From Kea, many Greek island charters head to Tinos, a rugged island famous for its impressive Panagia Megalochari church and monastery complex, whose worshippers crawl on their knees from the port to its entrance.

Iconic nightlife and impressive ruins

By contrast, our next stop Mykonos is known as the Ibiza of Greece for its lively nightlife. It’s still captivatingly pretty, however, with traditional whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and beautiful windmills.

A must-see when you charter a yacht in Greece is the island of Delos, the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.  Its ruins include Doric temples, an amphitheatre and the iconic Terrace of the Lions statues, and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Paros is another popular stop during Greek island charters for its white-sandy beaches, set against a mountainous backdrop with cliff-top villages. The lively villages of Parikia and Naoussa are teeming with traditional taverns and sophisticated bars and restaurants.

Breath-taking views and enthralling sunsets

Next stop is the island of Ios, Homer’s burial place, with its beautiful Mylopotas and Yialos beaches, breathtaking mountain views and the ancient Monastery of St. John. It’s also another great party island.

A highlight when you charter a yacht in Greece is the volcanic island of Santorini, where varying shades of red combine to create enthralling sunsets, with dramatic sea views and cliffs dotted with dreamy whitewashed houses.  Head on to tranquil Sifnos, the island of Apollo, with its green valleys, delightful villages and mesmerising sandy beaches.

Beautiful architecture and stunning beaches

At neighbouring Serifos, less frequently visited by tourists, you’ll find whitewashed houses and churches that contrast dramatically with the island’s wild and rocky landscape. Its capital, Serifos Chora, is arguably one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades, its narrow cobblestone alleys lined with bars and restaurants.

A last stop on most Greek island charters is beautiful, mountainous Kythnos, which boasts a wild natural landscape, elegant architecture and stunning beaches, the most distinctive of which is Kolona, a narrow strip of sand that connects to a small rocky island, forming two beaches on either side.

When you charter a yacht in Greece you are guaranteed to find sun-drenched beaches, sleepy villages and mesmerising scenery – start planning now for your dream holiday this summer.
